Mentor Classroom Teachers

What do our mentor teachers have to say about Education Professions?

We asked our mentor teachers what they thought about our  Future Educators coming into their classroom. These are a few of the responses we received...

Question 1.  How many years have you been involved in the mentor program?

This is my first year being involved in your mentor program. Last year another  classroom teacher in my program was involved, so I had a little exposure to it.
-Lisa Grell, Preschool, Cougar Lane                                                                                                             Preschool

Other teachers have ranged from two to five years in the mentor program. We got some raging reviews!

Question 2. What is your opinion on it? Do you think it is beneficial to your students? To you as a teacher?

I think it is a wonderful program. My students enjoy working with Haley and respond to her kindness, generosity, and caring ways. For me, it has been helpful to have such a talented, capable young adult help with individual students, small groups, and whole class instruction. Having Haley work with our class has provided more learning opportunities for students.
-Vicki Erickson, 3rd Grade, Granville                                                                                                             Elementary  School

I think it is a good program. I like the way that students have the chance to see different career options before they go to college. I think my kids are learning how to interact with someone that could be like a mentor or sitter to them. I think they are learning how to respect someone of that age. I like the parts where they can work with the kids in small groups. When our class sizes get so big, we don't always have the time to fix small problems with a child's process.
-Leann Jack, 1st Grade, Granville Elementary                                                                                                School

Question 3. Do you think this would have been a good program for you as a future educator? Would you have found it beneficial?

Absolutely valuable. Seeing a class operate before you are in a role would be valuable. You can really get a feel for what suits your strengths before you are actually teaching and that is great.
                                                                                             - Jeffrey Brown, Special Education, Bradshaw                                                                                                Mountain High School

This is my 18th year of teaching. It is my second year being a mentor for the JTED program. The student I have worked with has now spent a year and a half in the program. I firmly believe her participation in this program will benefit her as a future teacher. The flexibility of the lead instructor, Mrs. Woods, has also helped further the positive experience of my student. I believe my first grade students have shown more growth with the consistent help of my JTED student than they would have without her help. I know I would have loved this opportunity as a high school student!
                                                                                             - Heather Roche, 1st Grade, Del Rio                                                                                                              Elementary School

Face Painting Fundraiser

Bradshaw Bears vs. Prescott Badgers Football Game

FEA students thought it would be fun to paint faces to support the football team. For a dollar, students were able to choose, a bear paw print, a football, or a heart to support the team. Students volunteered their time at lunch to paint faces. We had a great time -- even teachers and THE PRINCIPAL got in on the act. We raised some money and more importantly we raised out school's pride!!  Go BEARS!
